collective agreement

The collective agreement regulates the rights and obligations of the collective agreement parties (employers and employees (trade unions)) and contains legal norms that can regulate the content, conclusion and termination of employment relationships as well as operational and works constitution law issues ( Section 1 TVG ).

Part-time and Fixed-Term Employment Act (TzBfG)

The Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act (TzBfG) is intended to promote part-time work, define the conditions for the admissibility of fixed-term employment contracts and prevent discrimination against part-time and fixed-term employees.

Telc certification

Telc gGmbH is a non-profit organization of the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV) that certifies language proficiency (A1–C2). Telc tests are generally recognized by government agencies. Telc provides the certification regulations on its website (see Telc Examination Regulations and Terms and Conditions ).

Test “Living in Germany”

The "Living in Germany" test is part of the integration course in Germany and is designed to assess knowledge of German society, culture, laws, and history. For example, a specific topic on German history and politics is tested. Passing the test demonstrates basic knowledge of the legal and social system and living conditions in Germany (see Section 9, Paragraph 2, Sentence 1, No. 8 of the Residence Act ). TestDaF - Test for German as a Foreign Language

The TestDaF is a language test for international applicants, required for admission to a German university. The TestDaF website provides all necessary information about the TestDaF.

tourist visa

The tourist visa is a type of Schengen visa. The purpose of the tourist visa is short-term visits to Germany for tourist or cultural activities.

Transit privilege

According to the transit privilege, no visa is required for the transit stay if the international transit area is not left during the stopover at a German airport and the final destination is in a country outside the Schengen area.

Year of separation

The year of separation is a prerequisite for dissolution of a marriage (divorce) in Germany. The family court may therefore suspend divorce proceedings if, in its free conviction, there is a prospect of continuing the marriage. If the spouses have been separated for more than a year, the proceedings may not be suspended against the objection of both spouses (see Section 136 of the Family Court Act ).
