Permanent right of residence

Permanent residence rights are all residence permits (or other rights) that allow for an unlimited stay in Germany, regardless of the original purpose of residence. Examples of permanent residence rights include the settlement permit or the EU permanent residence permit.

Unaccompanied minor refugees (UMF)

Unaccompanied minor refugees are refugees who are under the age of majority and are staying in Germany without a parent or legal guardian. Numerous special regulations under asylum and migration law apply to unaccompanied minor refugees.

Illegal entry

The entry of a foreigner into the federal territory is unlawful if he does not have a required passport or passport substitute, does not have a required residence permit or has a required visa upon entry, but this was obtained through threats, bribery or collusion or was obtained by fraudulent means through incorrect or incomplete information and is therefore withdrawn or annulled with retroactive effect, or if there is a ban on entry and residence.

Uni-Assist eV

Uni-Assist (International Student Application Service) is an institution of the German higher education organizations. Through Uni-Assist, foreign students can apply online to colleges and universities for study. With the Uni-Assist confirmation, they can then apply for a visa or residence permit to study (see Section 16b of the Residence Act ).

Union citizens

Union citizen is another term for nationals of a member state of the European Union (EU).

Immediate relatives

“Immediate family members” of staff members of the international organisation or other international body are their spouses living in their household, same-sex partners, children up to the age of 18 or, if they are dependent, up to the age of 25, and children, regardless of their age, if they are disabled and dependent on the staff member for their maintenance.

Intra-company transferred employees

An intra-corporate transfer is generally referred to as an ICT (intra-corporate transfer) case. An ICT case occurs when a third-country national is posted within the same company or group of companies (see Section 19 of the Residence Act ).
