VISAGUARD on the streets of Berlin: Our poster campaign has started

Berlin, August 24, 2026 – As of today, VISAGUARD is no longer just visible online: Our new poster campaign in Berlin has officially launched. Over the coming weeks, we will be advertising our law firm on various large billboards throughout Berlin – not with typical legal imagery, but with memes about visas, immigration authorities, and German residency law.

Because immigration law is serious enough. Our advertising doesn't always have to be.

German migration law meets Berlin meme culture

Anyone who has ever had dealings with a German immigration authority knows the situation: long processing times, hard-to-reach case workers and waiting weeks or months for a response.

We are addressing precisely these experiences with our new campaign.

For example, one of our large-format posters shows a skeleton sitting on a bench. Above it reads:

“ME WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM AUSLÄNDERBEHÖRDE”

In addition, the simple question follows:

“VISA ISSUES?”

Another motive is placed, with a wink, by the immigration authorities in the same category as "migraine", "hypertension" and "stress".

The memes are obviously exaggerated. However, the situations behind them are surprisingly real for many expats and international professionals.

Why we, as a law firm, advertise with memes

VISAGUARD is a Berlin-based law firm specializing in visa and immigration law . We advise and represent, among others, international professionals, expats, students, entrepreneurs, as well as companies and HR departments on all matters relating to immigration to Germany.

Our clients often face similar problems: unclear requirements in the visa process, long processing times, difficulties in communicating with authorities, or uncertainty about their own residence status.

With our poster campaign, we want to address these experiences in a different way. Immigration law doesn't have to be communicated solely through legal quotes, bureaucratic language, and classic law firm photos.

The legal work behind it remains serious, of course. However, humor is perfectly acceptable when communicating about it.

From the digital law firm to the streets of Berlin

VISAGUARD has been strongly digitally oriented from the outset. Contact is made online, consultations can take place via video call, and the processing of visa and residence permit applications is also largely digital.

With our new outdoor campaign, we are deliberately taking the opposite approach: from the digital world to the streets of Berlin.

Berlin is the ideal location for this. Hundreds of thousands of international professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and expats live and work in the capital. At the same time, Berlin plays a special role in German immigration law. The State Office for Immigration is one of the largest immigration authorities in Germany, located here. Legal proceedings against decisions made by German embassies and consulates are also generally heard before the Berlin Administrative Court.

Therefore, there are probably few cities where memes about German migration law find a more suitable audience.

The first large-format VISAGUARD posters are now visible throughout Berlin. The campaign uses various motifs that humorously address typical situations arising from German visa and residence law.

The QR code on the posters takes interested parties directly to VISAGUARD. Anyone currently experiencing problems with a visa for Germany, a residence permit, or the immigration authorities can contact our law firm directly this way.

For us, the campaign is also an experiment in how a modern law firm can communicate differently: legally professional, digitally oriented – and perhaps a little more Berlin.

So, anyone who discovers a skeleton somewhere in Berlin in the coming weeks that is still waiting for a response from the immigration authorities now knows who is behind it.
