IHK event in Düsseldorf on attracting international skilled workers

On August 27, the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce hosted the "Hand in Hand for International Talents" event , organized by the Düsseldorf Employment Agency . Around 90 guests from business, associations, and networks discussed how companies can successfully recruit and integrate international specialists . The conclusion: The need is great, the motivation is there—and the solutions have long been available.


Hand in Hand for International Talents – a nationwide project

The "Hand in Hand for International Talents" program provides comprehensive support to companies in recruiting skilled workers from abroad. It not only supports targeted searches in countries like India, Brazil, or Vietnam, but also assists with the legal procedures surrounding visas and recognition . Long-term integration in the workplace and in everyday life is also crucial. This creates a structured process that makes it easier for companies to sustainably address the skills shortage.


Cooperation makes integration successful

In two panel discussions, representatives from companies, government agencies, projects, and networks demonstrated how collaboration works in practice. From the Düsseldorf Immigration Office to the Goethe-Institut , the Expat Service Desk , and the IQ Network NRW – all partners emphasized that successful recruiting of international talent is only possible through cooperation. It became clear: international recruiting is less of a risk and more of an opportunity when clear structures and reliable partners are in place.

The event in Düsseldorf highlighted that recruiting international specialists isn't a sure-fire success, but with the right support, it can be very successful.
