At an international economic conference in Jackson Hole, European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde emphasized how strongly the German and European economies benefit from the contribution of foreign workers . Without the employment of skilled workers from third countries, the economy would be significantly weaker. According to Lagarde, gross domestic product (GDP) in Germany alone would be around six percent lower than in 2019. Other European countries, such as Spain, also owe their strong post-pandemic growth largely to immigrants.
Skilled workers ease the labor market – but demand remains high
The influx of qualified workers in Germany and Europe is helping to alleviate shortages in key sectors. This is particularly true in areas such as IT , healthcare , skilled trades, and industry. At the same time, Lagarde points out that migration is not a permanent solution to the labor shortage. Even with continued high levels of immigration, the number of people of working age will decline in the long term. This makes the targeted recruitment and integration of skilled workers from third countries even more important for filling vacancies efficiently.
Tailor-made placement as the key to success
For immigrants, this development means that well -coordinated procedures for the recognition of their qualifications and smooth placement in suitable jobs are crucial. This is precisely where VISAGUARD comes in: We support foreign skilled workers in entering the German labor market with legal certainty and connect them with experienced immigration lawyers. This benefits not only companies urgently seeking staff, but also the skilled workers themselves, who receive a clear legal and professional framework for their start in Germany.
